P.H. Hoeft State Park will host its first living history encampment on Sept. 18-19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors are invited to step back in time to visit with trappers and voyageurs and walk with the Redcoats as they patrol the northern shores of Lake Huron.
Participants will be able to stroll through a historical encampment where costumed French, Indian and colonial re-enactors tell their tales and portray the daily life of different historical eras of the upper Great Lakes region. Presentations include Dutch oven cooking, tomahawk throwing, quill pen writing, flintlock rifle operation and much more.
School groups are especially encouraged to attend on Friday, Sept. 18. Schools should contact the park at (989) 734-2543 to schedule their visit.

All vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Michigan Motor Vehicle Permit, available at the park entrance. Cost is $24 for a resident annual, $6 for a senior annual, $6 for a resident daily and $29 for a nonresident annual and $8 for a nonresident daily.
