September 8, 2009 − The Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) will hold its regular board meeting on Friday, September 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Marquette at The Landmark Inn, 230 N. Front Street. The meeting is open to the public and will be of interest to people who are blind or visually impaired, their family members and friends, and anyone interested in learning more about the state- and federally funded services provided throughout the state by the Michigan Commission for the Blind.
In addition to the usual staff reports and updates, two Upper Peninsula partners will provide updates on their organizations' activities and collaborations with the commission. Amy Maes, Executive Director, Superior Alliance for Independent Living (SAIL), will speak at 1:45, and Rita Keilholtz, Regional Manager of Workforce Development, Goodwill Industries of Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, will speak at 2:00. The commission's five-member policy board, appointed by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm, oversees MCB programs throughout Michigan.
