The Department of Natural Resources is partnering with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to offer a free seminar on handguns for women on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Rose Lake Shooting Range, located at 14500 Peacock Rd. in Bath. The seminar will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. at the shooting range.
This workshop is part of the NSSF's FirstShots program, which is an introductory program that provides the public with opportunities to give shooting a try. Developed by the NSSF and hosted by independent shooting facilities, First Shots provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to shooting by qualified range operators and instructors that includes firearm safety, local ownership requirements, shooting fundamentals, hands-on instruction and how and where to continue.
Enrollment in this seminar is limited, and preregistration is required. Beginners are welcome, and equipment will be provided. To preregister, call Sue Tabor at (517) 241-2225 or go online at www.michigan.gov/bow. Designed for first-time shooters, the seminar includes both classroom and range time.
First Shots is one of many NSSF programs working to increase awareness of and participation in the shooting sports. For more information on First Shots, visit www.firstshots.org.
NSSF, founded in 1961, is the trade association for the firearms and recreational shooting sports industry and promotes the safe ownership and responsible use of products its members make and sell. For more information, visit www.nssf.org.
