MPSC Approves Renewable Energy Purchase Agreement Between Indiana Michigan Power Company and Fowler Ridge II Wind Farm LLC

Contact:  Judy Palnau (517) 241-3323

September 15, 2009

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved the renewable energy purchase agreement (REPA) between Indiana Michigan Power Company (I & M) and Fowler Ridge II Wind Farm LLC.

On Aug. 10, the utility filed an application with the MPSC seeking approval of its REPA, which will provide 50 megawatts of wind-powered electric capacity, energy, and renewable energy credits.  The utility noted that its contract with Fowler Ridge is the result of a competitive request for proposal process.

In today's order, the MPSC notes that the 20-year contract term - the longest contract term presently offered by developers - provides I & M customers with an adequate source of renewable energy for a reasonable time.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
