October 1, 2009 -- After recent inspections to the overpass that carries West Grand Boulevard over I-94 in Detroit, crews will begin urgent repairs at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). The repair work will require an around-the-clock left-lane closure on westbound I-94 at West Grand Boulevard. No lane closures are necessary on the eastbound side of the freeway.
Traffic impacts on West Grand Boulevard include the full closure of the southbound lanes with a posted detour. Northbound West Grand Boulevard has a single lane open.
The left-lane closure on westbound I-94 is necessary in order to allow repair crews to install temporary supports while substructure work is underway.
This $134,000 repair project is expected to be completed on Nov. 8, 2009.
