Tahquamenon Falls State Park Hosts Winter Festival Feb. 6

Tahquamenon Falls State Park will host its annual winter festival Saturday, Feb. 6 from noon to 8 p.m. at the Upper Falls parking area. Tahquamenon Falls State Park is located at 41382 W. M-123, in Paradise.

Winter Festival events include an antique snowmobile display from Top of the Lake Snowmobile Museum, guided snowshoe hikes, free snowshoe rental, hot cocoa by the campfire and evening lantern-lit cross-country skiing, plus much more. Guided snowshoe hikes and lantern-lit skiing will also take place every Saturday in February at the Upper Falls. The hikes begin at 1 and 3 p.m., while skiing takes place from 5-8 p.m.

Semi-modern campsites and a new, modern lodge are available during the winter at Tahquamenon Falls State Park. The campsites include electrical outlets, but no flush toilets or running water; the lodge includes heat, electricity, a furnished kitchen, a bathroom and bedrooms. Reservations for campsites can be made online at www.midnrreservations.com or by calling 800-44-PARKS, while reservations for the lodge can be made by calling the park at 906-492-3415.

The Winter Festival activities are all free of charge, but each motor vehicle entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the park entrance. Cost is $24 for a resident annual and $6 for a resident daily. A non-resident annual is $29 and a nonresident daily is $8.
