Jan. 26, 2010

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment invite the public to an informational meeting regarding a potential property acquisition near Silver Lake State Park in Oceana County.

The public meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Golden Township Hall, located at 5527 Fox Rd. in Mears. DNRE Parks and Recreation staff will be on-hand to give an overview and take public input on a potential property acquisition on Silver Lake for a boating access site and day use area development.

The proposed acquisition includes two parcels of land, totaling .4-acre, which will also include an additional 60 feet of frontage on Silver Lake. The property is located northeast of the park property, near the intersection of Shore Drive and Silver Lake Road, along the southeast shore of Silver Lake.

If acquired, the land will be purchased by the DNRE with both Michigan State Waterways and Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund monies.

Persons with disabilities needing accommodations to attend this meeting should contact the park manager, Pete LundBorg, at 231-873-3083 (TTY/TDD 711 Michigan Relay Center for the hearing impaired), at least five business days before the meeting. Interested parties who are unable to attend this meeting may also submit comments to the park manager at lundborgp@michigan.gov.

The DNRE is committed to conserve, manage, protect, and promote accessible use and enjoyment of the state's environmental, natural resource, and related economic interests for current and future generations.
