Brimley resident Tammy Huotari went the extra mile for clients and coworkers and earned an award from the Family Independence Agency.

Houtari, a services specialist with Chippewa-Luce Family Independence Agency, was one of 15 agency employees around the state honored for good work, teamwork and providing quality service. Houtari received the agency director's "Going the Extra Mile" award during a ceremony Dec. 14. She has worked for the FIA for 11 years.

"Tammy consistently demonstrates high quality work," said Family Independence Agency director Marianne Udow. "She is very conscientious and works diligently to meet her clients needs."

The Going the Extra Mile Program was started in 2003. Award winners were nominated by peers and/or managers and were selected through a regional process.
