Grosse Pointe Park resident Veronique Lewis went the extra mile for clients and coworkers and earned an award from the Family Independence Agency.
Lewis, a foster care specialist with Wayne Family South Central Child and Family Services District in Detroit, was one of 15 agency employees around the state honored for good work, teamwork and providing quality service. Lewis received the agency director's "Going the Extra Mile" award during a ceremony held Dec. 14. She has worked for the FIA for seven years.
"Veronique demonstrates the qualities of excellence, inclusion and teamwork on a daily basis," said Family Independence Agency director Marianne Udow. "She is a strong advocate for foster teens."
The Going the Extra Mile Program was started in 2003. Award winners were nominated by peers and/or managers and were selected through a regional process.
