MDOT begins work on I-94 and US-12 bridges in Berrien and Cass counties

ESTIMATED STARTING DATE: Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Late November 2008

PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be rehabilitating four bridges in Berrien and Cass counties. Work includes structural steel repairs, joint replacement, resurfacing, and substructure repairs.

The locations are as follows:

-East- and westbound I-94 over Amtrak (Stevensville)
-Eastbound I-94 over CSX Railroad (New Buffalo)
-US-12 over M-60 (Niles)

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: During this work, at least two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained on I-94. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on M-60 in Niles.

CUSTOMER BENEFIT: This $940,000 project will preserve and extend the life of these bridges by approximately five years.
