August 27, 2008 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin resurfacing M-46 in Muskegon County on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The $1.9 million project will include milling and resurfacing more than 7 miles of M-46 from US-31 to Maple Island Road, including the ramp approaches at US-31.
There will be single lane closures on M-46. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times. Work on M-46, from US-31 to Sheridan Avenue, will be completed at night.
"The west end of the project limits is where we have the highest traffic volume, so by doing that work at night we are able to ease the impact to motorists," said Tim Judge, MDOT Muskegon Transportation Service Center manager.
Work is scheduled to be completed by late October. For up-to-date information on this project, go to the list of statewide lane closures on MDOT's Web site at www.michigan.gov/laneclosure.
