Lt. Gov. John Cherry to present local schools with "Safe Routes to School" funding checks

WHAT: Media are invited to a check presentation at Williams Elementary School, located in the city of Flint, Genesee County. Funding will be awarded to Grand Blanc Middle School of Grand Blanc, along with Williams Elementary School of Flint. The schools were awarded funding on Sept. 30, 2008 for "Safe Routes To Schools" programs for the 2008- 2009 school year. Schools receiving funding will implement education and encouragement programs during the 2008-09 school year and complete infrastructure work, such as sidewalks and crosswalks, in 2009.
