Change in signal operation at M-36 and Pettysville Road in Livingston County

Contact:  Kari Arend, MDOT Office of Communications, 517-750-0406
Agency: Transportation

COUNTY: Livingston

HIGHWAY: M-36 at Pettysville Road

CLOSEST CITY: Brighton

START DATE: Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: Starting Thursday, Jan. 28, the temporary traffic signal at the M-36 and Pettysville Road intersection will return to a traditional stop-n-go mode. The signal has been in flash mode since early January while a signal study was being conducted.

PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has conducted a signal study to see if the intersection meets required federal warrants for a permanent signal. The current reactivation is a temporary condition until the final results of the study are determined later this spring. The signal only can be left in place if the study confirms that federal warrants are met. If the current study indicates a permanent signal is not warranted, MDOT will collect additional traffic counts during peak travel times in late May or early June prior to a final determination being made.

MDOT installed the signal at M-36 and Pettysville Road as a temporary measure last summer while Pettysville Road was used as the detour route during construction at M-36 and Pettys Road.
