Phase two of Southern Links Pathway work begins Monday, July 6

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Late June 2010

PROJECT: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is scheduled to begin the second phase of work on the Southern Links Pathway. Crews are now working to convert the former Penn Central Railroad into a non-motorized path. This year, work is on a 5.4- mile section of the path, from the village of Otter Lake north to the village of Millington.

The first phase of construction, which extended the path from Columbiaville north to Otter Lake, began in 2007 and was completed in 2008. The completed path will measure 10.2 miles in length and will connect the villages of Columbiaville, Otter Lake, and Millington.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: There will be no disruption to traffic.

CUSTOMER BENEFIT: LJ Construction, Inc., Clifford, is the contractor for this $1.1 million project, which will provide area residents and visitors with improved recreational facilities.
