MDOT to host public meeting regarding the replacement of the Nine Mile Road bridge over I-75 in Hazel Park

WHAT: Open house-style meeting to inform the public of the current bridge replacement project on Nine Mile Road over I-75 in Hazel Park. Attendees will be able to view project details and have their questions answered by Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and consulting staff.

BACKGROUND: After a three-vehicle accident and subsequent fire that destroyed the Nine Mile Road bridge over I-75 in July, MDOT has begun the replacement project which is expected to be completed in late 2009.

Included in this $12 million project is the construction of a replacement bridge to carry Nine Mile Road traffic over I-75, reconstructing 0.5 miles of I-75 between Breckenridge and Highland avenues, updated freeway lighting, and traffic signal replacement on the I-75 service drives at Nine Mile Road.
