Mid-Michigan residents looking for a festive break are invited to the Michigan Historical Museum's fifth annual WinterFest, Saturday, Dec. 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guests can enjoy family-friendly activities that celebrate the excitement of the season and the diversity of our Michigan heritage. Programs range from Irish dance to Scandinavian decorations. WinterFest is sponsored by the Friends of Michigan History.
The Michigan Historical Museum is located at 702 W. Kalamazoo St. in downtown Lansing, just two blocks west of the State Capitol. Admission and weekend parking are free.
"We are excited to host our fifth annual WinterFest with returning and new musicians and artists. This event is a wonderful way to blend Michigan history, fun and the excitement of the winter holiday season," said Phillip C. Kwiatkowski, director of the Michigan Historical Museum System. "The museum will be humming with music, dance, art and more."

- Traditional decorations with the Scandinavian Society of Lansing
- The art of henna with Anshu Varna
- Traditional seasonal crafts that recognize Michigan's diverse heritage
