Agency: Natural Resources

Dec. 10, 2009

Tonight's meeting of the Eastern Upper Peninsula Citizen Advisory Council (CAC) for the Department of Natural Resources has been canceled due to weather conditions. The meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 6-9 p.m. at the Luce-Mackinac-Alger-Schoolcraft District Health Department building, located at 14150 Hamilton Lake Rd., in Newberry.

Agenda items will include:

-- Forestry Coalition update
-- Deer Management Plan update
-- March two-week walleye season update
-- Presentation on upcoming DNR/DEQ merger
-- Deer Management Assistance Permits
-- 2009 deer season discussion

The CACs were formed to give U.P. citizens more input into DNR regional programs and activities. The councils, in both the Eastern U.P. and Western U.P., represent a variety of outdoor recreation interests and help the DNR identify ways to be more effective across the region.

CAC meetings are open to the public. If you would like to be considered as a future CAC member, please fill out the nomination form found on the DNR Web site at www.michigan.gov/upcac. For more information, contact DNR Upper Peninsula Field Deputy Stacy Welling at (906) 228-6561.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is committed to the conservation, protection, management, accessible use and enjoyment of the State's natural resources for current and future generations.
