Who do I contact to become a volunteer?

There are many ways to become a volunteer. Here are just a few ways to get started.

Volunteer in your community
To find the Volunteer Center nearest you call 1-800-VOLUNTEER or visit the Web site http://www.mivolunteers.org/directory.htm to find volunteer opportunities by zip code and be on your way to a making a difference in someone's life.

The Michigan Community Service Commission offers a list of agencies to contact for volunteer opportunities including: Volunteer Centers of Michigan, Michigan Citizen Corps, USA Freedom Corps Volunteer Network and Unity in the Spirit of America.

The Michigan Volunteer Defense Force is actively seeking dedicated individuals who are interested in serving the State of Michigan and their country.

You can make the world a better place by volunteering. See the Department of Human Services volunteer page if you have some free time and want to take a more active role in your community.

Fair volunteers wanted! Each year the Upper Peninsula State Fair benefits from the smiling faces of great volunteers. If you have any questions, contact the Fair Office at (906) 786-4011 or staelgraeves@michigan.gov

Adopt-a-Highway is a Michigan Department of Transportation (M-DOT) program designed to help keep the state's highway roadsides clean and attractive. Participants adopt both sides of a section of state highway roadside to clean up over a two year period. A minimum two-mile stretch of roadway is recommended.

Do you love Michigan history? There are Department of History, Arts and Libraries volunteer opportunities with the Friends of Hartwick Pines, Mackinac State Historic Parks, the Archives of Michigan and the Docent Guild of the Michigan Historical Museum.

Volunteering Opportunities within the Office of the Governor. The Constituent Services Division serves as one of the Governor's direct links to Michigan residents. We provide an outlet for constituents' opinions and act as a liaison between citizens and state agencies.
