Michigan After-School Partnership

Formed in Fall 2004, the Michigan After-School Partnership (MASP) is a statewide network of organizations dedicated to strengthening the out-of-school time profession through coordination, communication, and collaboration.  MASP is working to develop a more cohesive system of after-school opportunities for all of Michigan's children:

  • Creating a sustainable structure of statewide, regional, and local partnerships, particularly school and community partnerships, focused on supporting statewide policy development.
  • Supporting the development and growth of statewide policies that will secure the resources that are needed to sustain new and existing after-school programs.
  • Supporting statewide systems to ensure that programs are of high quality.

The Michigan After-School Partnership (MASP) was established by the Michigan Legislature and supported by Governor Granholm in September 2004.  Its mission is to develop a statewide network to engage the public and private sectors in building and sustaining high-quality out-of-school time programs and resources.  Co-chaired by the Michigan Department of Education and the Michigan Department of Human Services, the MASP is entrusted to implement the policy recommendations and strategic next steps identified by the Michigan After-School Initiative's report of December 15, 2003.  The Michigan After-School Partnership receives financial support from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Michigan Department of Human Services, and the Michigan Department of Education.
