January 21, 2010 - Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth Director Stanley "Skip" Pruss today announced MiDash as the newest product on DELEG's Labor Market Information website at www.michigan.gov/lmi, a report that offers a general understanding of the dynamic nature of the current economic times.

"MiDash is the first such reporting mechanism of its kind and we're excited to add this innovative tool to our already comprehensive website," said Pruss. "Traditional measures of the state's current employment situation are presented alongside a number of published economic sources that have been recast for easy interpretation."

MiDash allows users to extract specific data for individual counties or regions for specific time periods to fully customize the information they receive. The report will be updated at the end of each month and can be printed on a single, double-sided paper for easy readability and mobility.

Data on Michigan's workforce is featured, including the state's Household Employment and Unemployment data, customizable by labor market area; Michigan's Nonfarm Wage & Salary Employment, depicting employment by industry and customizable by labor market area; and a look at the gap between labor supply and labor demand in Michigan, combining labor market information data with online job vacancies tabulated by The Conference Board's Help-Wanted Online program.

MiDash also offers both targeted and broad measures of the state and regional economy, showcasing a variety of data series that track economic performance over time. The Consumer Price Index measure can also be customized geographically.

Michigan's Labor Market Information website continues to provide superior access to economic data, analysis on the state job market, articles and publications offering valuable information on jobs, unemployment, high demand careers and wage rates. Users can easily access Michigan Fast Facts, Data Explorer, Local Area Information, and Career Center. In addition, www.michigan.gov/lmi provides links to the Michigan Career Portal, Michigan Talent Bank and Michigan WARN notices and the latest DELEG publications including the Michigan Green Jobs Report 2009 and Michigan Career Outlook 2014 brochures.

Data on the site is produced by DELEG in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics and Employment & Training Administration. All states use consistent USDOL methodologies to produce this labor market data, meaning the information on this site is fully comparable with national data and data for other states and regions.
