Get tax exempt status?

Both unincorporated nonprofit organizations and nonprofit corporations may be exempt from some taxes. For example, Article IX, section 4 of the Constitution of 1963, exempts nonprofit religious organizations organized as ecclesiastical corporations from real and personal property taxes. There are approximately 80 different exemptions. Refer to Revenue Administrative Bulletin 2002-15 for information regarding exemptions and requirements.

Form 3372 is used to claim exemptions.

Nonprofit organizations may contact the Michigan Department of Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service for more information about exemption from specific taxes.
