Eastern Upper Peninsula Citizen Advisory Council to Meet Feb. 18 in Newberry

The Eastern Upper Peninsula Citizen Advisory Council (CAC) for the Department of Natural Resources and Environment will meet Thursday, Feb. 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Luce Mackinac Alger Schoolcraft District Health Department building, located at 14150 Hamilton Lake Rd., in Newberry.

Agenda items will include:

  • Forestry Coalition update
  • Deer Management Plan update
  • DNRE transition update
  • Snowmobile registration fees
  • 2009 Deer Camp Survey report
  • Effects of poaching on deer management
  • Supplemental feeding
  • Goose management
  • Recreation Passport legislation
  • Garnet Lake Campground
  • Election of officers
The CACs were formed to give U.P. citizens more input into DNRE regional programs and activities. The councils, in both the Eastern U.P. and Western U.P., represent a variety of natural resource interests and help the DNRE identify ways to be more effective across the region.
