Come to Sylvester Walker's inn for a 19th-century Halloween experience.

Halloween became popular in the U.S. in the late 19th century as a way for young people to socialize. Victorian families dressed up as masked demons, ghosts and witches and decorated their homes with pumpkins and snakes. They gathered together with friends to play parlor games, tell stories, and to predict the future.

Today, you can try your hand at fun fall activities like pumpkin bowling; plus, there will be hands-on crafts to make and take.

This event is free but pre-registration is required. For more information, please send us an e-mail or telephone (517) 467-4401.

We invite you to explore all Michigan Historical Museum System Lower Peninsula events in our online calendar.
