A Tour of Deward, Michigan - Last of the Lumber Boomtowns

Date:  May 19, 2013
Time:  02:00 PM - 03:00 PM
Location: Hartwick Pines Logging Museum, Grayling

It's a pleasant afternoon for discovering more about Michigan's logging era at our spring lecture series. Today's program begins at Hartwick Pines and continues at the Deward Townsite on the Manistee River. Logging museum historian Rob Burg introduces you to Deward, an early 20th-century sawmill boomtown that faded after its large stand of trees was depleted.

This event is free of charge, although a Michigan State Parks Recreation Passport is required for park entry. For more information, please send us an e-mail or telephone (989) 348-2537.

Hartwick Pines Logging Museum—part of the Michigan Historical Museum System—is located eight miles northeast of Grayling, in Hartwick Pines State Park. Here's more information about how to find Hartwick Pines.
