Island Lake Recreation Area--Demo Days and Rec 101: Intro to Biking

Date:  May 04, 2013
Time:  All Day Event
Location: Island Lake Recreation Area, 12950 E. Grand River Ave., Brighton, MI, 48116

One of the absolute biggest assemblies of bike manufacturers in the country all come together on this day just so the public can try their bikes and trikes. Talk face-to-face with the ones who build 'em, ride 'em, and maintain 'em for a living. Then take a few out for a spin on the park's 14 miles of mountain bike trails and feel for yourself which is the best bike for you.

It is suggested you bring your own helmet and pedals, and show up early as the event is attended by over 1000 bike enthusiasts all vying for time on their dream bike.

This year's event will also include some Rec 101: Intro to Biking classes, where you can learn all about safety tips, riding techniques, what gear you'll need and the difference between bikes and a supervised ride out on the trails. This class will take place at 12:00 noon - check in at the registration/information table. Bring your bike and helmet, if you have them.

You must register for the event. Go to www.outdoorathlete.com to pre-register, or you may do so day of but it will be busy!

Please Note: The Michigan Department of Natural Resources makes every effort to provide the most up-to-date and accurate information on the web calendar. However, dates occasionally change and events may be canceled for any reason. Please call the unit hosting the event to confirm dates and times prior to your arrival.

A Recreation Passport is required for entry into all Michigan State Parks and Recreation Areas. Check "YES" when you renew your license plate. Learn more at www.michigan.gov/recreationpassport.
