New merge lane for US-131 in Grand Rapids

PROJECT DETAILS: 
A $7 million investment to improve safety and operations along northbound US-131 by connecting the Leonard Street on ramp to the Ann Street off ramp in the city of Grand Rapids.

Work also includes:
- Replacing and widening the decks on the Richmond Street and Indian Mill Creek/railroad bridges
- Patching the deck and repairing the substructure on the Ann Street bridge
- Lengthening the pedestrian tunnel to accommodate the widening of US-131
- Repairing concrete joints from Pearl Street to south of Richmond Street

TRAFFIC IMPACT: 
Northbound US-131 will have one lane closed for the duration of the project with up to two lanes closed on some nights and weekends. The eastbound I-196 ramp to northbound US-131 will be closed, in addition to the Leonard Street ramp to northbound US-131.
