April 15, 2013 -- Contracting crews will begin a new stage on Saturday, April 20, on the project to resurface more than 3 miles of M-97 (Groesbeck Highway) between Hayes and 14 Mile roads in Macomb County. In this new stage, southbound traffic will be shifted with two through-lanes open in each direction and a center-turn lane between 14 Mile and 11 Mile roads. All work on this $13.5 million investment is expected to be completed in late October.

The upcoming traffic shift will allow crews to complete curb, driveway and sidewalk repairs. Sidewalk ramps will be constructed to make pedestrian crossings meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The southbound traffic shift is expected to last until late June when crews will turn their attention to the northbound side of the roadway.
