MDOT to hold third public meeting on I-96 reconstruction in Wayne County

WHAT:
An open house-style meeting to provide an update on upcoming I-96 reconstruction between US-24 (Telegraph Road) and Newburgh Road in Livonia and Redford Township. Interested parties will have the opportunity to learn details about detours, bridge construction, freeway lighting replacement, and aesthetics.

BACKGROUND:
This 7-mile-long project includes reconstructing the pavement and improving 37 overpasses above the freeway. During the design phase of the project, MDOT analyzed the functional, safety and aesthetics of the corridor. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2014 and will result in a full closure of the freeway.
