Public open house Sept. 26 for proposed lane changes through Houghton Lake

WHAT:
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will host a public open house to discuss a proposal to convert M-55 between US-127 and Old US-27 from four lanes to three.

BACKGROUND:
The proposed lane conversion is an effort to reduce crashes through this section of M-55, approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for designated safety funding. The conversion would also support MDOT's Complete Streets policy by allowing more space for pedestrians and bicyclists.
