Eastbound I-696 weekend closure begins Sept. 20 in Oakland and Macomb counties

- Eastbound I-696 will be closed for pavement repair from I-75 to Mound Road.
- The closure starts at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, and ends at 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23.
- Posted detour uses I-75, M-102 (Eight Mile Road), and Mound Road.

September 16, 2013 -- Eastbound I-696 will be closed from I-75 to Mound Road the weekend of Sept. 20-23 for pavement repair, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). Weather permitting, the closure will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and end at 5 a.m. Monday.

During the closure, eastbound I-696 traffic will be detoured to southbound I-75, then eastbound M-102 (Eight Mile Road) to northbound Mound Road, and back to eastbound I-696.

During the week, eastbound I-696 will have multiple lane closures from I-75 to Mound Road during the overnight hours in order for crews to prep for the upcoming closure. Overnight lane closures begin at 9 p.m. and end by 5 a.m. the following morning until Friday, Sept. 20.
