Fall bridge work begins Oct. 1 in Detroit

September 24, 2013 -- Bridge repair is expected to begin in early October on four structures located in the city of Detroit, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). The four bridges include:
- the northbound I-375 ramp to southbound I-75,
- the southbound I-75 ramp to eastbound I-94,
- Mack Avenue over I-75, and
- Trumbull Street over I-94.
All work on this $650,000 investment is scheduled to be completed in late 2013.
The northbound I-375 ramp to southbound I-75 is scheduled to be closed at a later date and open by Dec. 15. During the closure, traffic will be detoured using northbound I-75, then westbound I-94 to eastbound I-96, and back to southbound I-75. Mack Avenue will remain open over I-75, as will Trumbull Street over I-94; however, lane closures are expected. The southbound I-75 ramp to eastbound I-94 will be closed for two weekends to complete work. Both I-75 and I-94 will have continuous shoulder closures until the work is completed.
All four bridges were rated "structurally deficient" on the last state bridge inspection report, which can be viewed at: www.michigan.gov/highwaybridgereport. "Structurally deficient" means a bridge may require rehabilitation or replacement at some time in the future.
