Scholarships Help Connect Early Education Teachers to Nature

Educators in the woods learning about logging Children aged three to eight may not be able to explain the biology of a turtle, but they can experience its shape, movement and color. This summer at the DNR's Academy of Natural Resources (ANR), a new class will prepare and train educators to connect early learners with nature. Science, art, music, movement, inquiry and other techniques, along with award winning curricula, will enable any educator to better guide young children into the engaging world of nature observation. Scholarships from Safari Club International (Novi Chapter) and the Michigan Section of the American Institute of Professional Geologists make the week-long ANR very inexpensive. Graduate/undergraduate credits through Ferris State and SCECHs are also available. For more information go to: www.michigan.gov/anr
