Media Advisory: Media Coverage During Funeral of Tpr. Paul Butterfield II; Funeral Service to be Held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 in Manistee

LANSING. The Michigan State Police (MSP) today released funeral details to the public and instructions for media planning to attend the service for fallen Tpr. Paul Butterfield II. Arrangements are as follows:

10 a.m., Visitation
1 p.m., Funeral Service

Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013

Location:
Manistee High School Gym
525 12th Street
Manistee, MI 49660

Parking: Parking for media satellite trucks will be available on 12th Street and parking for other media will be available in the parking lot of Manistee High School near the intersection of Tamarack Street and 12th Street. Traffic control officers will be available to assist media to the designated parking area at the high school.

Funeral Coverage: The Butterfield family has agreed to allow one pool camera inside of the funeral service. Media should contact Stanton Tang, WZZM TV 13 News Director, at (616) 559-1411 for details on feed information. Additionally, space has been designated outside on the northeast corner of the high school for media coverage of the military honors after the service.

Media Interviews: MSP Director Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue and MSP Deputy Director Lt. Col. Thomas Sands will be available at the designated media area for interviews immediately following the funeral services.

The family of Trooper Butterfield has requested that all media representatives remain in the designated area. The family has also announced that they will not be available for interviews.

It is the intention of the MSP to allow reasonable media access and coverage of the funeral while ensuring the dignity and solemnity of the service is respected.
