Romulus Social Worker Summarily Suspended

September 12, 2013 - The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has immediately suspended the Michigan license to practice as a licensed master’s social worker of JoAnn McGhee, L.M.S.W., of Romulus, Michigan based on her felony convictions in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan.

On January 2, 2013 and January 3, 2013, McGhee was convicted of two felony counts of Health Care Fraud. McGhee was sentenced to probation for a period of two years with terms and ordered to pay restitution and assessments totaling $494,331.08.

On August 28, 2013, LARA issued an order summarily suspending McGhee’s license pursuant to the Public Health Code which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional’s license upon the conviction of a felony, a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for a maximum term of two years, or a controlled substance-related conviction.
