Secretary of State Ruth Johnson encourages participation in National Voter Registration Day

SEPTEMBER 23, 2013Election News

Events promoting registration held throughout Michigan, nation

LANSING, Mich. – Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day throughout the country, and Michigan communities are among those participating, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced today.

In recognition of the event, the Secretary of State Mobile Office will be open for business 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday outside Lansing City Hall. Other locations throughout Michigan will hold events to recognize National Voter Registration Day. To find them, visit www.nationalvoterregistrationday.org/event.

"Throughout the country, on this day in particular, people are recognizing the importance of registering to vote," said Johnson. "That makes Tuesday the perfect opportunity to register if you haven't done so already. Stop by the Mobile Office, a local event, your local Secretary of State office or your clerk's office, fill out the form, and you're well on your way to voting in the next election this November."
