Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will be in Lansing to serve homeless veterans May 20.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20 at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial by West Allegan Street and the Michigan Hall of Justice. The visit is part of the Capital Area Stand Down for Homeless Veterans.

"America's veterans were there when their country needed them, and so it's an honor to offer assistance now that they need it," Land said. "I commend the stand-down organizers for their efforts to help capital-area homeless veterans."

At the stand-down, the mobile office primarily will assist people in obtaining identification cards that are needed to access additional state and federal resources. Services provided by other agencies at the stand-down include medical care, benefits counseling and assistance with federal Department of Veterans Affairs claims.

The mobile facility is a full-service Secretary of State branch office and is accessible to people with disabilities. It is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer that has logged more than 125,000 miles since it first hit the road in 1997.
