QVF Software Version 2.6
Release: We will release the final pre-election version of the
QVF software on Tuesday, October 12th. This update will include enhancements
that clerks have requested over the past month to help prepare for the upcoming
General Election. A brief summary of the changes can be found below. A
more detailed version can be found under Help->Release Notes after updating
to the new version.
New Voter Status: We have
added a status of "Verify-Confirm Citizenship" to allow for Election Day
confirmation of voters who failed to check the Citizenship box on voter
registration applications. The new status will be identified on QVF
precinct lists. Voters may confirm their citizenship by filling out a new
mail-in voter registration application on Election Day or otherwise confirming
their citizenship in a signed statement.
For jurisdictions using the
newly revised "Application to Vote" form that incorporates a question on the
voter's citizenship status, the voter's positive response to the question
satisfies the citizenship check off box requirement.
To provide the new
status, we eliminated the status of "Verify-Spelling of Name." Very few
voters had this status. We will contact each clerk who had voters with
this status for further information on the new status of these
voters.
Enhancements:
- Replaced the standard Delphi database grid with a
new enhanced version in several modules including the following: Local Report
Queue, Voter Search results screen (when not viewed in detailed mode)
- Enhanced the voter search feature to include the
following features:
- Search option that allows the user to find
voters who do or do not have a mailing address
- Search option that allows the user to find only
voters who have comments
- Search option that allows the user to find only
voters who have a 4-digit SSN
- Added an "exact match" option for last name and
street name
- Allow the user to select individual/multiple
items in the search results
- Allow the user to perform the following action
on all selected items:
- 17.6.1. Print ID Cards
- 17.6.2. Print Master cards
- 17.6.3. Print voter details
- 17.6.4. Print mailing labels
- Include comments on the results screen.
- Report/listing capability to include mailing
address and gender
- A second report output format that includes only
last/first/middle name and comments sorted by name
- Set the module to restore focus to the control
that previously had focus when the user clicks the [search] button from the
search results screen
- Added a help module has been added to the
Electronic Precinct List
- The user can change the order by clicking on the
column headings of the grid. This also affects the order of the
applications, as they are previewed/printed.
Corrections:
- Save button under Election
Administration->Counting Boards now allows user to save records that have
been newly added or edited
- "Auto assign" feature found under both AV Modules
has been adjusted to work properly for dual county jurisdictions that have
voters residing in a minor county
- Removed the tab stop set for the two exact match
checkboxes located on the voter search screen
- Resolved ORA-01460 error that was occurring while
saving voter records
- Adjusted software to allow proper deletion of
voting history when an AV ballot is removed from the voter
record
Software Update
Procedure:
- Make sure that all QVF software is closed (this
includes client machines); your replication will fail and/or you could
experience data loss if you miss this step
- Establish a connection to the Internet. Most users
will do this via a yellow telephone icon found on your desktop called
MichNet.
- Run the QVF Server Manager. This program icon is
found on your desktop or under Start-> Programs-> Michigan QVF.
- If you do not see the Michigan QVF folder under
Start-> Programs, click on the small double arrow icon displayed at the
bottom of your programs list to view the hidden folders.
- After running the QVF Server Manager, you will see
a warning message display. After closing that message, start the update by
clicking on the Update Server Now button.
- Expect this update to take 2-3 minutes longer than
a typical replication. When you see the message stating your "Server has been
updated successfully", click OK to complete the process.
New CGI Email Address: We
would like to introduce email savvy clerks in our community to a new contact
address for the Center for Geographic Information. Street Index questions,
change requests and other communications may be mailed to: cgi-qvf@michigan.gov
