“News You Can Use”

Electronic Precinct List:  Jurisdictions are encouraged to try the new electronic precinct list, a feature included in QVF software version 2.5. The electronic precinct list is a valuable enhancement designed to boost the efficiency of your precinct boards on Election Day.   While the module provides all the functionality of a paper precinct list, its primary value is the enhanced search capability it provides.  The search capability allows your election inspectors to key or scan voter names when they appear to vote.  Precinct inspectors will be able to search for voters throughout the entire jurisdiction.   If a voter’s name is not found on the precinct list, the precinct inspector can do an “out of precinct” search with the click of the mouse.   Since the polling location is identified for every voter in a jurisdiction, precinct inspectors will be able to easily direct the voters who appear to vote in the wrong precinct to their proper precinct.

To use the electronic precinct list, you will need to provide a standard Windows based PC or laptop.  If your jurisdiction would like to use this module, please contact the QVF helpdesk for more information.

Registration Date Reminder:
In any instance where a voter is eligible to participate in the November 2 General Election, the registration date entered into the QVF system for the voter must be October 4 or earlier.  If a later date is used, the QVF system will not print the voter's name on the precinct list produced for the general election.

Michigan election law specifies that a voter registration applicant who meets one of the following standards has fulfilled the "close of registration" requirement for the November 2 General Election:

  1. The elector submits a voter registration application through a Secretary of State branch office, a designated voter registration agency or his or her county, city or township clerk's office on or before October 4.
  2. The elector submits a voter registration application through the mail and it is postmarked on or before October 4.    If the postmark date is missing or unclear, the voter registration application meets the October 4 registration deadline if the clerk of the applicant's city or township of residence receives the application on or before October 11  (7th calendar day after October 4) AND the application was dated by the applicant on or before October 4.
