Upgrade to QVF Statewide Index URL to Take Place October 19th

QVF Statewide Index URL Change:   the QVF Statewide Index will be upgraded to support SSL on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 in an effort to prevent information theft.  This upgrade will allow the information accessed on the site to be transferred securely between your computer and our server.  Due to this change however, you MUST update your bookmark for the site or you must modify the URL you use to access the site to include an "s" as shown here: https://services1.sos.state.mi.us/qvf/main.asp .  If you receive this  error message, you may be still using the old URL or you may have mistyped the new URL.  On your initial visit using the new URL, you will be prompted with a Security Alert  to which you MUST click YES.  This change will not take place until the 19^th of October; until that time, the new URL will remain offline.

More Information Regarding SSL:  short for Secure Sockets Layer, a protocol developed by Netscape for transmitting private documents via the Internet.  SSL works by using a private key to encrypt data that's transferred over the SSL connection.  Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer support SSL, and many Web sites use the protocol to obtain confidential user information, such as credit card numbers. By convention, URLs that require an SSL connection start with https: instead of http.  SSL creates a secure connection between a client and a server, over which any amount of data can be sent securely.
