Reminder* Entering Voters from Branch Office Applications When No Inbox Message is Received:  If data is entered incorrectly at a branch office or a voter registers at a branch office and does not have a Michigan Drivers License or Personal Identification Card, the voter’s information may not always be transferred into the QVF system.  Clerks are reminded that they need to enter voter registrations received from branch offices when voter names do not appear in the QVF.  This will ensure that the voters’ names appear on the polling lists for the Nov 2, 2004 General Election.  Clerks should immediately issue identification cards so voters know where to vote on Election Day. Be sure to use the registration date shown on the application when keying these registrations.

Reminder* Registrations From the Distributed Services Unit- Branch 289:  On October 15, 2004, a memo went out to all county clerks informing them of a problem with registration dates on some applications that were processed through the Distributed Services Unit, Branch 289 (DSU).  A small number of registrations received by the DSU prior to the close of registration for the November 2 election were entered after the cutoff date causing their registration date to be recorded incorrectly.  These registrations were received on 10-04-04 but were processed using a registration date of 10-05-04.   Clerks are reminded to carefully review voter registration applications to be sure that the dates are correct and to correct the registration date in QVF if an error is found (the postmark date from the DSU envelope is used as the registration date if an error is found).   If any applications are received from DSU without postmarked envelopes, 10-04-04 should be used as the registration date. Please correct the registration date on these records if you find any in your jurisdiction.

If you have any questions, please call the QVF help desk at 1-800-310-5697.
