"News You Can Use"

QVF Software Version 2.12 Released: A new version of the QVF software has been released. To correct the  server problems we identified in an email yesterday and a fax today, it is necessary for you to update the software on your QVF server and initiate a replication before your automatic, nightly replication will function.  You will not receive any inbox transactions until you upgrade to the newest version of software. We encourage all jurisdictions to complete a software upgrade as soon as possible to ensure the integrity of their data.

Please see the release notes and the linked documentation for information on the features contained in this release. Follow the instructions below to update your software to take advantage of the new features.

Version Updates:

·        Corrected problem that prevented some of the AV report modules from including inspectors from other school districts.

·        Added a Cancellation Countdown feature that automatically causes a record to be cancelled once two November General elections have passed pursuant to NVRA requirements. The feature functions as follows:

a.      A Cancellation Countdown field (added to the Voter Registration screen) that allows the user to enter a cancellation countdown start date. The user can edit or clear this field as needed.

b.     The Cancellation Notice button (located next to the Cancellation Countdown field) allows the user to generate a Cancellation Notice for the current voter. The Cancellation Countdown field is automatically set to today's date if a Cancellation Notice is printed from the voter registration screen using this button.

c.      If a voter has a cancellation countdown attached to his or her record and the record is marked as having voted in any election, the cancellation countdown is automatically cleared by the system.

·        Implemented the Cancellation Notice (front, back, and pre-printed).

·        Adjusted the cancellation countdown feature so the cancellation countdown date is set and committed by the Cancellation Notice screen without requiring that the user save the change from the voter registration screen. This also avoids the need to respond to the change agency prompt.

Release Documentation: The following link contains information on the operation of the new Cancellation Countdown Feature. Please click the following link, and then print the instructions for your reference.

Software Update Procedure:

  • Make sure that all QVF software is closed (this includes client machines); your replication will fail and/or you could experience data loss if you miss this step.

  • Run the QVF Server Manager. This program icon is found on your desktop or under Start-> Programs-> Michigan QVF.
    • If you do not see the Michigan QVF folder under Start-> Programs, click on the small double arrow icon displayed at the bottom of your programs list to view the hidden folders.
  • After running the QVF Server Manager, you will see a warning message display. Click OK to close the message.
  • Click on the Update Server Now button to start the update.
  • When you see the message stating your "Server has been updated successfully", click OK to complete the process.
