Oracle 10g Upgrade - Delay in QVF Software Upgrade -
Starting on Thursday, December 8th, we will begin the upgrade to a new version
of the QVF's Oracle Database Management System. The QVF Server in Lansing will be unavailable from Thursday
until Monday. This upgrade will delay our plans to release a new version of QVF
Software over this weekend; the software change will now take place over the
following weekend, December 17-18. This change in plans will help us prepare
more thoroughly for the challenging software upgrade we described in the
December 5 edition of "News You Can Use." Upgrading Oracle first makes more sense from
a system standpoint, but will not reduce the complexity of the software
upgrade scheduled to occur now on the weekend of December 17-18.
To prepare
for the Oracle 10g Upgrade, we are requesting that sites Manually Replicate
their QVF Server on Wednesday (December 7), then refrain from entering new data
until the system is restored on Monday. With this change, both the Statewide
Lookup and the Michigan
Voter Information
Center will be
unavailable until the system has been restored.
To ensure
the integrity of your voter data, please replicate on Wednesday before the end
of business.
We thank you
for your patience and cooperation. Stay tuned for more information regarding
this series of upgrades.
