Copper2k Patch for Qualified Voter File

Use

This patch should be used in conjunction with the Conexant/GVC Modem operating on Windows 2000; this modem was used in the Dell Optiplex GX150. Check the front panel of your Dell computer to see if you have the correct model for this patch before using. This patch updates the operating software (drivers) of your Dell Modem, fixing the various errors that are mentioned below:
 
Determining If The Patch Is Right For You

Error Message Description Use the Patch? (Yes or No) If Yes, Why
629 The port was disconnected by the remote machine. Yes; may improve communication. If this doesn't work, line may have excess noise.
651 Your modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error No; contact helpdesk.
676 The line is busy. Yes; resets possible fault in modem. If the patch doesn't help, the ISP may be down.
678 There is no answer. Yes; improves communication. If the patch doesn't help, the ISP may be down.
680 There is no dial tone. Yes; corrects initialization. If the patch doesn't help, check phone connections.
691 Access denied because username and/or password is invalid on the domain. No; username field is possibly blank.
692 Hardware failure in port or attached device. Yes; although this may be an internal modem issue, it may correct the problem.
777 The connection attempt failed because the modem (or other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order. No; the ISP is down.
797 The modem could not be found. Yes; typical software problem.

 

  1. Download Copper2k
  2. Click OK to ‘Save this program to disk’
  3. Select Desktop from the Save In dropdown.
  4. Click Save to save the file to your Desktop. This process will take a few minutes.
  5. The Save window will turn to ‘Download Complete’. When this happens, Click on the Open button.
  6. Click OK in the ‘WinZip Self-Extractor’ window
  7. Click Unzip in the ‘Dell Computer Self Extracting Driver Installation’ window.
  8. Click OK to the message ‘8 file(s) unzipped successfully.
  9. After the screen loads, scroll to the bottom then Click Install Now
  10. In the ‘File Download’ window, change the selection to ‘Run this program from its current location’, then Click OK.
  11. A ‘Security Warning’ window will appear. Click Yes.
  12. Wait for 1.5 minutes then restart the machine.
