Setting Up School Elections: In version 1.77, software changes were made so that certain elections could be associated with districts of any type.  One of the types of elections that changed as a result of these enhancements was school election.  Jurisdictions that are responsible for setting up the election in “Election Administration” and then running precinct lists for school elections need to use the following instructions so that all voters in a particular school district will appear on the precinct list.

  1. Click on Election Administration on the  “File” Menu
  2. From the drop down menus, select  “None” as the county and “None” as the jurisdiction
  3. Select  “New"
  4. Select “School” from the drop down menu as the election type
  5. Enter a description in the description field:  i.e.; Lansing Public School Election
  6. Select the correct school from the district drop down menu
  7. Enter the date of the school election
  8. Click OK.  The election is listed in the grid.

If the school election is set up by the scripted jurisdiction as "none" for county and "none" for jurisdiction, that scripted jurisdiction and each jurisdiction affected by the school election have the ability to utilize the QVF application to perform responsibilities for that school election including AV and precinct lists.  The non-scripted jurisdictions can access only their own voter records.   Counties are only able to set up elections for schools for which they are scripted.
