Sixteen Jurisdictions
are Piloting a new version of the Qualified Voter File for Smaller
Jurisdictions: In late September, the Bureau of
Elections released a new version of the Qualified Voter File (QVF) that provides
direct access to QVF for jurisdictions not currently connected. This new
version of QVF has been released to 16 jurisdictions in the past two week.
The 16 jurisdictions are:
Algonac City, St Clair County
Bear Creek Township, Emmet County
Odessa Township, Ionia County
Brady Township, Kalamazoo County
Brooks Township, Newaygo County
Chelsea City, Washtenaw County
Clio City, Genesee County
Eaton Rapids City, Eaton County
Grass Lake Charter Township, Jackson County
Lake Charter Township, Berrien County
Montrose City, Genesee County
Petoskey City, Emmet County
Richfield Township, Roscommon County
Thompson Township, Schoolcraft County
Williamstown Township, Ingham County
Unadilla Township, Livingston County
This new version of the Qualified
Voter File is designed to accommodate jurisdictions with 5,500 Voting Age
Population or less and will allow clerks to administer their voter registration
files locally. Each participating jurisdiction must use a
computer operating with Windows 2000 or Windows XP and must also have an
Internet connection.
The Bureau and the 16 pilot sites
will be testing the new version of QVF to ensure it provides a good fit for all
future users. The Bureau of Elections anticipates the release of the new
version of software in the next few months.
