Utilizing the Statewide Look-up:  When utilizing the Statewide Look-up (SWL) to determine if an individual is or is not eligible to participate in the November 7 general election, it is important to remember the following points:

  • An individual who 1) moved from one Michigan jurisdiction to a different Michigan jurisdiction after September 8, 2006 and 2) failed to register to vote in his or her new jurisdiction of residence by October 10, 2006, can return to his or her former jurisdiction of residence to vote one final time.

  • An individual who 1) moved from one Michigan jurisdiction to a different Michigan jurisdiction on or before September 8, 2006 and 2) failed to register to vote in his or her new jurisdiction of residence by October 10, 2006, is ineligible to participate in the election.

  • An individual who 1) resides in your jurisdiction 2) is registered to vote in your jurisdiction and 3) offers to vote in the wrong precinct must be directed to his or her proper precinct.  If the voter refuses to travel to his or her proper precinct to vote, the voter may vote a Provisional Ballot.  In such a case, caution the voter that his or her provisional ballot will not be counted if it is confirmed that he or she does not reside within the precinct in which the ballot was issued.
