The New QVF Statewide Index URL Has Been Launched: The new and more efficient QVF Statewide Index URL was officially launched earlier this week. This means that the previous QVF Statewide Look-up address, which you have been using to date, is no longer available. If you have not already book marked the new URL address, please do so now.

Final Reminder - November General Election Voter History Deadline and NVRA Voter Cancellation Purge: Please remember that the deadline to enter voter history for the November 7, 2006 general election is December 22. Clerks of cities and townships that do not have direct access to the QVF must make arrangements with their county clerk to ensure that all voter history is entered into the QVF immediately.

Failure to enter voter history by the above deadline will result in inaccurate voter turnout data for your jurisdiction in the official QVF Voter Turnout Report. It may also result in the inadvertent cancellation of voters within your jurisdiction who participated in the November general election.

The first automatic NVRA voter cancellation purge is scheduled for January 3, 2007. The purge will cancel all voters who 1) had their ?cancellation countdown" activated prior to the November 2004 general election and 2) have not participated in any election or submitted an update to their voter registration information since the date of the ?cancellation countdown" activation.

You will receive the following QVF inbox notification for each voter registration record that is canceled under this process: STATUS CHANGED TO CANCEL ? NVRA. In each case, the QVF status code for each record will be automatically changed to ?Cancel ? NVRA."

Voting System Surveys: If you have not yet submitted your completed Voting System Survey, please do so at your earliest convenience. You may submit your completed survey via e-mail to McRillS@Michigan.gov or by fax to (517) 241-4785.

QVF Usernames and Passwords: It has come to our attention that a number of election officials within the state are using ?Admin" as their username when accessing the QVF. Please remember that for security purposes, it is important that all persons who will be accessing the QVF be issued a unique username and password. While all users are initially assigned the username of ?Admin," this universal username should only be used once. Upon entering the QVF, users are instructed to immediately select their own unique username and password to be used when performing all future QVF work. Unique usernames and passwords should never be shared. Therefore, it is important that a separate username be set-up for each individual who will be accessing your data.

It is recommended that usernames and passwords be set-up by a designated system administrator. To set up a unique username, select ?Sys Admin ? User Administration" from the QVF menu and then select ?New" and fill in the required fields. Please remember to delete ?ADMIN" once you have completed this task.

If you have forgotten your username or have questions regarding this process, please contact the QVF Help Desk at 1-800-310-5697.

Michigan Retention Period ? Release of Loaner Voting Equipment: The retention period on the security of voting equipment used to conduct the November 7, 2006 general election will end on December 27. If you have tabulators or AutoMARK voter assist terminals on loan from a vendor, such equipment may be released for return as of the above date. Please be advised that, due to state authority recounts, the retention period is extended for the following counties: Gladwin, Clare, Kalamazoo and Saginaw. Jurisdictions in these counties may not break security on any materials related to the November 7 general election until written authorization is first received from this office.
