November Election AutoMARK Programming - The Michigan Department of State's Bureau of Elections will provide AutoMARK programming to all counties, cities and townships (regardless of optical scan vendor) that request such assistance for the November 6, 2007 election at no cost.  Consistent with our procedure from previous elections, we are asking the county clerks to be responsible for coordinating the collection and distribution of all AutoMARK related programming information for jurisdictions holding an election on November 6th in their county.

Please inform your county clerk if you are having a November 6th election.  In addition, please work with your county clerk to ensure the Bureau of Elections is provided with the following items to program the AutoMARK;

·        Flashcards for each AutoMARK device used on Election Day.

·        A pronunciation guide for names that are difficult to pronounce.

·        A pdf file for each ballot style in your jurisdiction available from your printer.

·        Data file generated from tabulator programming (Diebold and ES&S counties only).

·        Five ballots for each unique ballot style from your printer for testing.

 Upon completion of the programming process, your county clerk will return your programmed flashcards.  We anticipate completion of the programming at least ten days before the November 6th election.  Your immediate assistance in providing your county clerk with the above information will greatly assist us with the timely completion of the programming task.
