Pilot Web-Based Training
Course to be Launched: The Bureau
of Elections, in partnership with Michigan Virtual University, is pleased to
announce the October release of a one-hour, web-based training course entitled
"Election Day Precinct Management." The "train-the-trainer" course will be
made available to all county, city and township clerks and the members of
their staff who are responsible for training election inspectors.
This
first course will be used as the model for future web-based training courses
and programs offered by the Bureau including Michigan's Clerk Accreditation
Program. Our goal is to incorporate web-based training as a complement to the
current face-to-face training programs sponsored through the Bureau.
Web-based training programs afford full and part-time election officials the
opportunity to access the instructional materials when convenient to their
individual schedules.
Your Assistance is Needed: To
make this first pilot program and evaluation process a success, we are asking
all county and local election officials who are responsible for training
election inspectors to view the course and complete a short course
assessment. The course and assessment, which will be offered on-line, should
take approximately one-hour to complete. Instructions for enrolling in the
pilot course, which will be launched within the next two weeks, will be
forwarded to all course participants later this week.
Using the form (below), please provide the name, title and email
address for each of the individuals that would like to participate in the
pilot program. Please forward the completed form to the attention of Lydia
Valles at ElectionsPDD@Michigan.gov
or by fax to: 517-241-2784 no later than October 3, 2008.
As the national focus on
the administration of elections continues to intensify, it is important that
we take advantage of all available technologies to enhance the Bureau's
training programs, train-the-trainer materials, and instructional
information. Your cooperation and participation in this effort is both valued
and appreciated.
