Board of State Canvassers meeting Monday, March 7, 2005

YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED THAT THE BOARD OF STATE CANVASSERS WILL MEET ON MONDAY, MARCH 7, 2005 AT 11:00 A.M. IN ROOM 521 OF THE HOUSE OFFICE BUILDING, 124 N. CAPITOL AVENUE, LANSING, MICHIGAN.


Included on the Agenda will be:

  • Election of Board Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson for terms ending February 1, 2007.

  • Consideration of initiative petition submitted for approval as to form by People of Diversity United for Equality (PODUE), P.O. Box 981231, Ypsilanti, MI 48197. (Petition would initiate new legislation to "protect citizens from racially biased jury trials.")

  • Consideration of "new political party" petition submitted for approval as to form by the Defender Party of Michigan, 20061 Pinion, Howard City, MI 49329.

  • Consideration of Unity v2.5 Election Management System Software; M 100 Optical Scan Tabulator v5.1.00; and M 650 Optical Scan Tabulator v2.0.1.0 submitted by Election Systems & Software of Omaha, Nebraska for approval for use in Michigan.

  • Consideration of GEMS Election Management System Software v1.18.15 submitted by Diebold Election Systems of McKinney, Texas for approval for use in Michigan.

  • Consideration of Sequoia EMS/AERO v3.5.4.1 and Optech Ballot Wizard v1.0 Election Management System Software submitted by Sequoia Voting Systems of Oakland, California for approval for use in Michigan.

  • Establishment of deadline for challenging signatures appearing on initiative petition filed on January 6, 2005 by Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (MCRI), P.O. Box 1398, Southgate, MI 48195.

  • Establishment of meeting dates for 2005.

  • Such other and further business as may be properly presented to the Board.

A person may address the Board on any agenda item at the end of the meeting. A person who wishes to address the Board on an agenda item at the time the item is being discussed must submit a written request to the Chairperson of the Board prior to the opening of the meeting. Persons addressing the Board are allotted three minutes.
